About Michael B. Kuntz, CFA

Founder | Lean C Team

Michael Kuntz is a finance and operations executive who brings over 20 years of global leadership experience to mission-driven enterprises and growth-stage ventures. As Founder of Lean C Team, he partners with CEOs and boards to deliver fractional C-suite expertise — helping organizations gain financial clarity, strengthen governance, and scale with confidence.

Michael has led across sectors and continents, from early-stage startups to complex multi-country operations. As Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Simusolar, he built a leading East African clean-energy finance company from concept to a 150-person enterprise operating in Tanzania and Uganda. There, he managed financial strategy, fundraising, and board engagement, raising more than $15 million in equity, debt, and grants while implementing the systems that enabled sustainable growth.

Prior to Simusolar, he served as President and COO of Generation Enterprise, guiding a social-innovation nonprofit through a strategic pivot and global restructuring, and as an independent consultant advising impact investors, agribusinesses, and social ventures in Latin America and the U.S. Earlier in his career, Michael held strategy, trading, and leadership roles at Raymond James Financial and Marsh & McLennan Companies, working in capital markets, corporate finance, and risk management.

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, Michael earned his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University. He is fluent in English and Spanish and conversant in Swahili and German.

Today, through Lean C Team, Michael helps founders, boards, and investors turn complexity into clarity — delivering flexible finance and strategy leadership tailored to each organization’s stage and mission.
